KEY TERMS Sexual orientation: one’s sexual attraction to persona of the same or the opposite sex or to both sexes Heterosexual: having a sexual attraction to members of the opposite sex Homosexual: sexual attraction to people of the same sex (also referred to as gay) Bisexual: having a sexual attraction to both members of the same sex and those of the opposite sex Homophobia: an irrational fear of or aversion to homosexuals that leads to prejudice, discrimination, and sometimes violence against gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered individuals |
